JDM stands for "Japanese Domestic Market." Borrowed from car culture, in fishing it refers to lures and tackle designed to be sold and used inside Japan, rather than built for export. A JDM lure is not automatically better — but it is made for a particular style of fishing, and that shows up in the design.
What JDM usually implies
Japanese bass fisheries are small, clear, and heavily pressured. Lures made for that context tend to favour finesse, realistic finishes, refined actions, and tight quality control, often at a higher price. Many techniques now common in North America — the neko rig, the wacky rig, mid strolling, spybait fishing — were developed or refined in Japan and travelled outward with the lures built for them.
Availability
Some JDM lures — the Megabass Vision 110, the JACKALL Flick Shake — are now distributed widely in the US. Many others are import-only, sold through specialty retailers or bought directly from Japan. On this site each lure is tagged with its rough US availability, and Japan-only baits are marked as such.
