Bevy Minnow 45SP
ベビーミノー45SP
A tiny 47.5 mm suspending minnow built for downsizing when bass refuse larger lures. The Bevy Minnow 45SP excels with twitch-and-pause presentations, especially around small baitfish and under tough, high-pressure conditions.

What is the Bevy Minnow 45SP?
The Bevy Minnow 45SP is a compact suspending minnow from Lucky Craft designed around one simple idea: when fish will not commit to a normal-sized lure, downsize.
At only 47.5 mm and 2.7 g, the 45SP presents a very small baitfish profile while retaining the control of a hard-bodied minnow.
Unlike the floating and sinking versions in the Bevy Minnow lineup, the 45SP suspends when paused. This allows anglers to twitch the lure into position and then leave it in front of reluctant fish.
It runs at approximately 0.3 to 0.6 meters, making it particularly useful for shallow-water finesse presentations.
Why it's popular in Japan
The Bevy Minnow represents a very Japanese approach to difficult fishing conditions: instead of increasing attraction, reduce the size of the presentation and give the fish more time to eat it.
Lucky Craft specifically developed the Bevy Minnow as a downsizing bait for situations where fish are difficult to catch.
The suspending 45SP is particularly suited to tough conditions because it can be twitched and then stopped in the strike zone. Lucky Craft recommends extending the pause when fish are especially reluctant to bite.
Its compact profile also makes it useful when bass are feeding on very small baitfish, particularly during periods when matching small forage becomes important.
How Japanese anglers fish it
A basic presentation for the Bevy Minnow 45SP is twitch-and-pause.
Use short twitches to make the small minnow move sharply, then stop the retrieve and allow the lure to suspend. When fish are active, the pauses can be relatively short. When bites become difficult, extend the pause and give following fish more time to commit.
It can also be retrieved steadily when bass are actively chasing small baitfish.
Because the lure runs only about 0.3 to 0.6 meters deep, it is especially useful for working shallow water and targeting fish feeding near the surface without switching to a true topwater lure.
Recommended situations
- Highly pressured bass
- Tough bite conditions
- Small baitfish patterns
- Spring when forage is still small
- Clear water
- Shallow water
- Twitch-and-pause presentations
- Fish that follow larger lures without committing
- Situations where soft plastics are not producing
- When a very small hard bait is needed as a last-resort presentation
How it differs from US-market lures
The Bevy Minnow 45SP is much smaller than the jerkbaits commonly used for bass in the US.
At only 47.5 mm and 2.7 g, it is closer to an ultralight finesse presentation than a conventional bass jerkbait.
Its purpose is also different from simply covering water or generating aggressive reaction bites. The 45SP is designed around downsizing when fish become difficult to catch, using a small baitfish profile, subtle twitches, and increasingly long pauses to trigger reluctant fish.
For US anglers exploring JDM bass fishing, the Bevy Minnow 45SP is a good example of how Japanese anglers use extremely small hard baits as a finesse tool rather than relying exclusively on soft plastics when fishing pressure becomes high.
