SPEED VIB

スピードバイブ

A compact 42 mm solid-body vibration lure from JACKALL that combines the fast response and strong vibration of a metal blade bait with a more natural falling action. Available in 3.5 g, 5 g, and 7 g versions, the SPEED VIB is designed to trigger reaction bites through a sharp contrast between lift and fall.

What is the SPEED VIB?

The SPEED VIB is a compact sinking vibration lure from JACKALL designed around an unusual solid resin body.

Unlike conventional hollow hard baits, its thin solid construction reduces unnecessary body mass and allows the lure to begin vibrating almost immediately when line tension is applied.

The result is a sharp, powerful vibration similar to a metal blade bait while retaining characteristics that are difficult to achieve with a conventional metal body.

JACKALL positions the SPEED VIB between the finesse action of the small TN38 and the much stronger action of traditional metal vibration lures.

The lure is available in 3.5 g, 5 g, and 7 g versions, all sharing the same compact 42 mm body.

Its design is particularly focused on the contrast between a strong vibrating lift and a more natural fall, creating sudden changes in movement that can trigger reaction bites.

Why it's popular in Japan

The SPEED VIB represents a hybrid approach to vibration-lure fishing.

Japanese anglers have long used both compact hard-plastic vibration lures and metal blade baits, but these two lure types produce very different combinations of vibration, response, and falling action.

JACKALL designed the SPEED VIB to occupy the space between them.

Its thin solid resin body produces a fast, powerful startup response, while the lure can transition into a much more natural fall when line tension is released.

The lightweight 3.5 g version is particularly unusual because it allows anglers to combine strong vibration with a relatively slow fall in a very compact package.

The 7 g version adds another behavior: a shimmying fall that gives the lure movement even when the angler is not actively working it.

This combination gives anglers several ways to create reaction bites within a very short distance.

How Japanese anglers fish it

The SPEED VIB is particularly effective with lift-and-fall presentations.

When the angler lifts the lure and applies line tension, the body begins vibrating almost immediately and produces a strong, sharp action.

Releasing tension changes the presentation dramatically.

With some line tension, the lure follows a curved fall. If the lure is lifted until its action stops and the line is then suddenly released, it can fall with an irregular sliding movement.

The 7 g version can also produce a shimmying fall on slack line, allowing the lure to continue moving without additional rod input.

These different falling behaviors allow anglers to alternate between aggressive vibration and relatively natural or unpredictable movement.

The SPEED VIB can therefore be used to repeatedly trigger reaction bites while remaining within a relatively small area.

Recommended situations

  • Lift-and-fall presentations
  • Reaction-bite fishing
  • Cold-water bass
  • Pressured bass
  • Bottom-oriented bass
  • Suspended bass
  • Compact baitfish situations
  • Short-distance reaction presentations
  • Vertical depth changes
  • Bank fishing
  • When a metal blade bait feels too aggressive
  • When a conventional small vibration lure feels too subtle

How it differs from US-market lures

For US anglers, the SPEED VIB may initially resemble a small lipless crankbait or blade bait, but its construction places it somewhere between those familiar categories.

Instead of using a conventional hollow plastic body or a thin metal plate, JACKALL uses a thin solid resin body.

This construction gives the lure a very fast startup response and strong vibration while allowing it to produce falling actions that differ from a typical metal blade bait.

The 3.5 g version combines an unusually light overall weight with strong vibration and a relatively natural slow fall, while the 7 g version can produce a shimmying action during a slack-line fall.

Rather than simply being another compact vibration lure, the SPEED VIB is designed around the contrast between aggressive vibration and changing fall behavior.

That makes it a useful example of Japanese lure design focused on extracting multiple reaction triggers from a very small lure.
